Sports Coach Sam Tratt Wins International Hockey Silver
Everyone at Leicester High School for Girls is delighted to congratulate our Sports Coach, Sam Tratt, on helping England Over-45s secure a silver medal at the International Masters Hockey Tournament in Rotterdam.
Following an outstanding week of competition, England defeated South Africa to book their place in the final against Australia. Although Australia claimed a 2-0 victory in the final, England finished the tournament as international silver medallists – a fantastic achievement at the highest level of Masters hockey.
Reflecting on the experience, Sam said:
"We successfully beat South Africa to earn our place in the final against Australia. Unfortunately, the game ended in a 2-0 defeat, meaning we picked up silver. It was a true honour to sing the National Anthem before the final and to be part of such an incredible event. While losing the final really stung, I am still incredibly proud of everything we achieved as a team and have learned a lot from the experience."
Throughout the tournament, Sam demonstrated the commitment, resilience and teamwork that he encourages in our own pupils every day. Competing on the international stage is an exceptional accomplishment, and we are incredibly proud that he represented both his country and Leicester High School for Girls with such distinction.
