A Season of Festive Joy at Leicester High School for Girls

Christmas at Leicester High School for Girls has been a busy and festive time, full of celebration and community spirit.

We began our festivities with the much-loved Christmas Carol Service, a cherished moment in the School calendar. The service featured thoughtful readings and wonderful performances from our choirs.

Across the School, classrooms and corridors were soon transformed as pupils took part in our annual Christmas Door Decorating Competition. The imagination shown this year was exceptional—from snowy winter scenes and nativity moments to playful, glittering creations-making the School feel truly magical.

The Junior School added to the festive atmosphere by designing and creating their own Christmas tree for the Knighton Christmas Tree Festival with the theme leading lights.

Our Sixth Formers enjoyed a well-deserved festive outing, heading to Nottingham for a day of ice skating. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to relax, spend time together and celebrate the end of a busy term.

As part of our festive outreach, students also took their pantomime on tour, visiting local schools to perform a show they had planned, written and produced themselves.

No Christmas season would be complete without our Christmas Jumper Day, which brought a burst of colour and fun to School while raising money for charity. This was followed by a much-anticipated highlight: Christmas Lunch. Pupils and staff gathered to share a traditional festive meal, complete with crackers, conversation and plenty of laughter.

Our younger pupils delighted families with a heart-warming Nativity Play, full of confident performances, wonderful singing and moments that captured the true spirit of Christmas.

We concluded our celebrations with a wonderful sense of community at the School’s hugely successful Christmas Fair. With over 40 stalls, festive games, seasonal treats, performances from our choirs and even a visit from the reindeer, the School was full of Christmas cheer, and it was a joyful way to bring a busy festive season to a close.
