Inspirational Lab Technician

We are proud to share the achievements of Tracey Johnson, our lab technician, who inspires us all with her accomplishments in the world of running and her resilience in the face of adversity.

Tracey, a member of the Wigston Phoenix running club, competes in both the Leicestershire Road Running League and the Derby Runner Cross Country League.

This year, Tracey reached a significant milestone by achieving the Bronze Standard Award, a prestigious recognition in her age group. To attain this award, she participated in a minimum of five races at varying distances, all meeting the challenging criteria set for the Bronze Standard. She also competes with the Leicestershire Running League in cross-country events, including a recent race at Bagworth Heath, where she secured an admirable 87th place out of 240 competitors.

Despite her busy schedule as a lab technician, Tracey manages to clock an impressive 20 to 30 miles per week. In December, she is set to complete her fourth half-marathon of the year at Milton Keynes, a testament to her endurance and strength.

Tracey's journey in the world of running is all the more inspiring given her incredible resilience. She has triumphed over cancer, emerging stronger and more determined than ever. Her story serves as an example to our students at Leicester High School for Girls, demonstrating that with perseverance, determination, and a positive attitude, one can overcome even the most formidable challenges.

The school is immensely proud to have staff members like Tracey, who not only excel in their professional roles but also serve as role models and sources of inspiration for our students.
