On Friday March 3rd Year 11 attended What Career/What University Live at the NEC. Here they had the opportunity to speak directly to Universities and employers as well as attend talks and get one-to-one careers advice.

On Friday March 3rd Year 11 attended What Career/What University Live at the NEC. Here they had the opportunity to speak directly to Universities and employers as well as attend talks and get one-to-one careers advice.
On Saturday 18th February, it was the D of E training day for Bronze, Silver and Gold participants. A total of 60 students across Years 9-12 attended the day at school in preparation for their upcoming expeditions. This year, there is a total of 6 groups enrolled at Bronze, 3 groups enrolled at Silver, and 1 group enrolled at Gold.
On Sunday 26th February representatives from the Young Enterprise team ‘Flames and Fables’ took part in the Trade fair at Beaumont Shopping Centre.
As part of our Gold D of E Award we embarked upon learning a foreign language in Paris alongside students from all over the world to complete our residential section.
Leicester High School has recently welcomed three PGCE Student Teachers into its Staffing Body. Ishan Bhatiya, Elizabeth Fleury and Tyla Evans have arrived from the University of Leicester as part of their training to become fully qualified teachers of History, Science and Religious Studies respectively.
The devastation in Turkey and Syria has shocked us all and our thoughts are very much with the communities suffering as a result of the disaster.
Our Junior Department ran a whole school break time bake sale on Thursday 16 February to raise funds for the DEC Turkey/Syria Earthquake Appeal.
Following a recent assembly on the effects that global warming is having on our environment and climate, we are forming a new Eco club at LHS. What could possibly become the most important and active club in the school we are asking for a couple of Eco-Monitors to represent each Tutor Group and work on projects within the School and local environment.
On Wednesday 15th March the gym was abuzz with nervous, excited girls making final preparations for the English Department’s annual Public Speaking Competition. All students in Years 6-10 wrote and delivered a persuasive or argumentative speech on a topic of their choice in class rounds; the winners of the class rounds then went through to represent their forms in the final.
Leicester High School is celebrating National Science Week with a number of events going on all week – all around the theme of ‘Connections’.
There will be science competitions and events throughout the week, with experiments for the students to take party in during each lunchtime starting at 1:15pm in the student foyer area.
This year's Intermediate Maths Challenge was completed in January by selected students from years 9,10 and 11. Congratulations to all involved and accessing this opportunity for stretch and challenge and to develop their problem-solving skills. The notable achievements from each year are below;

We have a new recipe for February – flapjacks! One of the (many) great things about flapjacks is that you can customise them. This recipe gives you a basic flapjack which you can ‘upgrade’ with your favourite flavours, You can find the flapjack recipe below.
