World Book Day Brings Stories to Life

There was a lovely atmosphere across the school as pupils and staff came together to celebrate World Book Day, with a day centred around reading and the enjoyment of books.
Many pupils arrived dressed as their favourite literary characters, bringing a wide range of stories to life. From well-known classics to modern favourites, it was a pleasure to see such creativity and enthusiasm throughout the school.
A particular highlight of the day was seeing older pupils sharing their love of reading with younger girls. These moments captured the spirit of the occasion, helping to encourage a genuine enjoyment of books across all age groups.
Staff also joined in by dressing up and reading to pupils, adding to the sense of fun and reinforcing the school’s strong reading culture. Classrooms and shared spaces were filled with stories being read aloud, discussed and enjoyed together.
The celebrations included a special assembly where certificates were awarded to recognise the effort and imagination shown. Congratulations to all of our winners:

Acting Head of English, Nina Taylor, said:
It was wonderful to see our whole school community come together to celebrate the importance of reading. I was so impressed by the effort both students and staff put into their costumes. We shared so much fun and laughter, while also reflecting on what reading means to us all. I’m already looking forward to next year.
